pipelines under the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas. In order to
utilize the resources of OISD in best possible way, the pipelines group
conducts ESA of only those pipelines which are more than 75 KMS in length. In
addition, the pipelines shorter than 75 KMS also can be audited on the
request of the operating company and depending upon the severity of pipeline
operation. The periodicity of carrying out first two ESAs are 3 years and

monitored by the pipeline group so as to ensure maximum safety of pipeline
operation. At present, the periodicity of monitoring is quarterly which is
done by receiving quarterly reports from the industry. The reports are sent
to Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas for their information. The status of
implementation of the recommendations is also reviewed in Steering Committee
Meeting and in Safety Council Meeting.
